ART YOUR WAY

I founded Art Your Way in 2017 in partnership with the nonprofit You Will Rise. I met with community members, artists, the Columbus school board, psychologists and local educators to put on a series of free workshops where youth in the community were encouraged to express themselves through art.

I lead a small, but mighty, team who secured local sponsorships for free lunches and work spaces for the workshops. I partnered with Columbus College of Art and Design for a donated gallery space, and applied for grants to secure funding for art supplies. I created all the marketing material collateral (including the logo you see here), the website, and all communication sent to schools, parents, and teachers. With the help of a trained art therapist I put together the workshop prompts that were carefully crafted around feelings such as anxiety, stress, sadness, frustration, and also joy, optimism, and acceptance.

The workshops concluded with a professionally curated gallery show open to the public for students to show their work.
